When You Need to Forget the Future

SometimesyouneedtoforgetBeing intuitive comes with its own unique set of challenges. For example, in a world of probabilities, I often have to forget the future. It sounds silly doesn’t it?

While most of us are planning the for the future and figuring out what we would like to do here I am learning to forget it. Not all of it. Just an aspect of it.

There seems to be a fine balance of planning the future, expecting what’s to come, and releasing it to let what happens happens. It seems to be that balance I’ve been learning about this past year.

When I first moved back to Vancouver I was delightfully surprised to hear from a mentor of mine in a quick reading that I will be meeting my Life Partner in Crime during my time in Vancouver. As I tuned into it I felt in Spring it would be likely to occur this meeting. Then I checked in with a psychic friend of mine, and he confirmed Spring.

Well, its turned into Spring and almost all I can think about is the meeting of this partner. I’m excited! As “spiritual” as I am, I am also human. And I share the desire to connect as much as the next person. So it’s Spring and every day I wake up wondering if today is the day!

I’m making sure I don’t change the probability line too much, ensuring that I am choosing the correct probabilities to make this come true, and all the while hearing my Guides whisper: “Just forget about it. Let it go. Let it go.”

A friend says, “You can’t control it.”

The same psychic friend I’ve started to check in with monthly says, “You choosing to travel this summer might have screwed up the timelines. I wouldn’t be surprised if you didn’t meet him now until after your travels.”

I know! I know! I have to forget the future!

If I can forget the future than the future has the freedom to become truth.

Do you know how hard that is? The human brain holds onto the certainty of the future pretending it has figured it out, pretending nothing can shake it, pretending clarity, pretending it knows the truth. In reality, it knows as little as I know, which is very little, especially about my own future.

And so with a big, deep breath, I release the future. I forget that I have a possible meeting with my Life Partner in Crime. When I think about it I will redirect my thoughts. I will not feed it. I will simply let it go into the depths of the forgotten.

This is part of the reason why I feel I don’t receive messages containing my future for the small things – just the big things. Grand visions to come or deep knowings that come true once I’ve released them to the ethers. The visions always come true when I’ve released them.

Oh sigh. The practice of non-attachment as taught by my Soul.

How to Find the Right Psychic for You | A Good Psychic

fortune tellerIt’s hard to tell who is a good and authentic psychic in this field. Con artists have given this field a bad rap because it isn’t hard to say “I’m a psychic” and with awesome marketing get the public in and make a fortune. I’ve experienced it. It’s taken me a couple of years to be able to tell who is a good and true psychic verses not, but its a challenge.

Before I came into this line of work I had never been to a psychic. It always seemed kind of, well, redundant to me. But after being in this field I began to check out other psychics. I wanted to know what they were like. I wanted to learn from them. I wanted to know more about what a good psychic is like.

I’ve felt duped more than a few times.

I’ve cried on Venice Beach after a “crystal reader” made me feel like sh*t and that there was no hope in the world for me to live my dreams. She projected her beliefs on me when I came to her in such an open hearted way, excited to meet in person another crystal reader. It’s rare I meet a crystal reader, however, she was not a crystal reader. She was a con artist.

Note: If the reader is projecting their beliefs onto you, they are not a good reader. A good reader is someone who is clean and clear, who has little to no need to project their beliefs onto you. They only offer information that serves you, not what they believe to be true (and often is) in their reality. Your reality and life path is totally different and doesn’t operate in the same way as the psychics in many respects. Leave that psychic before they can make you cry. Please. Please!

I’ve walked way from another highly recommended psychic shaking my head, feeling that I wasted my money. Half of what she had said was coming from her ego, her framework. The information was not clean and pure. It took me weeks to sort through her information to find what was true verses what was simply her opinions.

Note: This is another case very similar to projection, however, this one felt very ego oriented where the one on Venice Beach actually believed that she was helping. This reading had a lot of “I”m smarter and older and this is the truth of the matter no matter what you say/believe/think. I’m going to tell you how the world is. I know what’s right.” feelings to it in-between the valuable information. There was nothing valuable to take from the Venice Beach psychic while this one did give me valuable information. This one felt more like a power trip than projection. Stay clear of those who power trip!

I’ve also had very good experiences that have left my heart open knowing the truth was spoken with an open heart and that the person speaking was not coming from ego. Ironically enough, these experiences have often come from when I do a card reading trade with someone that I’ve taught how to read cards or someone who doesn’t consider themselves a professional in the field.

Qualities of  a Good Psychic

truthcomesfromtheheartIn my honest and humble opinion my experiences have led me to believe that a “good psychic” is someone who is consistently working on clearing their channel and releasing things that keep them from their core of unconditional love.

A “good psychic” is always going to do his/her best to come from the heart with a sense of detachment to the outcome of the situation. Any form of attachment will influence the reading.

A “good psychic” will be open and honest, even if they know the client doesn’t want to hear the truth. They know that the client has come to hear the truth no matter if they like it.

A “good psychic” is constantly expanding their framework and truths about the Universe and will have a daily practice to help facilitate this.

A “good psychic” will allow the flow of the Universe, of the Highest Self, of that which Guides from Unconditional Love, to do the speaking, and knows that what they gift to other is not them. They are simply the channel for the information of the client’s Highest Self to come through. A reminder. A confirmation. Guidance to help their client come closer to themselves.

What to Look For in a Psychic

1. The number one thing to finding a good psychic is to pay attention to word of mouth. Ask your friends. Read the testimonials. See if what is being spoken about is what resonates with you.

All psychics from what I can tell have very different styles. Some are more inspirational and self-empowering (like myself) while others are more down to Earth this is what’s happening whether you like it or not. Both styles are great, however, different people respond differently to the ways the information comes to them. If you are someone who responds well to being told very straightforward what is happening then find someone’s who’s style reflects that. If you want someone who is soft and comes from the heart, then look for that in the testimonials you read.

2. Does the psychic you are looking at resonate with you?

This is helpful if you can meet with the psychic or call them to have a conversation. It’s even better if they have a website. What you are looking for here is to see if you agree with what they stand for, with what they speak about, with what they think. You want to find someone that when they say something part of you is going “yes, yes, that’s truth to me.” Take time to look around their social media, their websites, etc. and see if that happens for you.

Pay attention to the framework from which they operate from. You want to find a psychic with the largest frame work you can because a large framework encompasses all of the smaller frameworks. What this means is that you want to find someone who is wiser than yourself. You want to find someone who understands where you are at and can take you to the next level. You don’t want someone that you go to and they tell you what your mother says. You want someone who goes beyond where you can go, who can go deeper into the unconscious and collective consciousness realms.

3. Where does the psychic operate from?

Many times when we are trying to find psychics we are trying to find those who operate from the heart center and not the ego. We want a person that connects with us at a deep level and isn’t in it just for the money. There are several ways that this can be defined from reading their blog posts, to their actions in the world, to the hear-say from friends, to what is said on the website and so on. This is something that is often intuitively uncovered as we look over the materials that they present to the world.

I can tell you that the more the psychic comes from the ego the less accurate they will be.

4. How does the psychic make you feel?

This is key. People who are looking for psychic guidance will often attend body mind expos and psychic fairs. They will often come across a psychic in person. So pay attention. When you are in the company of the psychic how do you feel? How about when you leave? How about when you phone them to chat? How do you feel when you get off the phone?

If you feel drained, tired, marginalized, small, stupid or anything else like that then chances are that is not the psychic for you. After seeing a psychic you may feel like you’ve received a lot of information but as that information processes it should uplift you, feel true to you, resonate with you, and empower you in some way.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA5. Recognize that the psychic your best friend goes to you might not be right for you.

In number one I say ask for recommendations and now I’m saying that the recommendations might not be right for you.

What’s up?

Recommendations are a great way to start getting connected into the realm of psychics and to how they work. The people who are recommending you to someone will often tell you why. They will say “I really like her because she always seems to come from the heart” or “He’s super good at what he does. I always find him to be accurate” or “She helped me through one of the toughest decisions I had to make”.

Those people too will be able to tell you what to expect in a reading.

They often can get you an introductory rate to the see the psychic as many of the psychics I know have a discounted rate for those who come referred through regular clients.

Conclusion

Finding the right psychic for you is a very personal process. You want someone who resonates with you, will tell you the truth, is accurate, and will provide the best customer service they can. You want someone who helps you be more of you, in my opinion.

For those of you who do have visited psychics, what do you look for?

7 Reasons to Get a Card Reading

It can seem like a flaky thing to get a card reading to some. Truly, it is not as flaky as it seems. Card readings can be sources of great clarity and insight for a person if the connection between the reader and readee is right.

Readings can look into any area of your life. They are not just limited to relationships, or the spiritual, or your health. They can look at your finances, your career, your gifts. Literally, anything can be read with a confident reader.

You can be as vague as you want “Tell me whatever the cards say!” or “ I’m not sure what I want to know.” That type of intent for the reading will allow you to receive the information or guidance that serves you most at that particular time.

When you are more specific, say, you have a topic, but there is a lot you want to know about it, or there are several paths you can choose from it is easy to create a spread that looks into each option. What will each option bring into your life? Example: ‘I can go steady with Joe or Tom or I can just move to Hawaii and see how that goes.’ Or “ I’m not sure if I want to travel or if I want to stay here and get a job for the summer.”

Then you can be specific. So specific there is no question of what you want to know. Example: ‘I want to know where my relationship with Todd is going. Will we get married and have kids?’

Here are the reasons I feel that most people come to see me in my work, and what I feel they often get out of it.

Reason 1: To receive confirmation of your intuition.

Card readings are so much more than getting your future told. They often tell you what you already know, what you may have lost sight if because your mind has become busy working out the situation.

Reason 2: To gain insight on your future and your current life path.

This can be invaluable information that can tell you where your easiest, most harmonious and joyful future is. A reading can clarify where you are going, and give you suggestions if you want to go in a different direction.

Reason 3: To gain an outside perspective from someone that has no ties to you or your life.

Sometimes we get so lost in our thoughts, feelings or both that we get focused in a really small part of what is actually going on. When you visit a card reader most often you are meeting a stranger who doesn’t know anything about you and can see the big picture and give you new perspectives.

Reason 4: To receive what you most need to hear at the time to move forward.

Sometimes we get stuck. In life, in our heads, in our emotions and we don’t know what we can do to move forward. A reading can often give you something to chew on, something to think about that may be what gets you moving and out of that rut.

Reason 5: To hear what the universe and your intuition is trying to say to you.

Sometimes we get lost in the loops of our mind, and though we’ve heard what our intuition is saying we can no longer identify what is our intuition, our mind, other people, or whatever. We’ve thought so much about something there is no differentiation between what is our truth or another truth. Card readings often bring forth what you already know, the intuitive stuff that is your truth even though you may not be able to recognize it or put words to until another person does.

Reason 6: To gain further understanding about what is happening in your life.

Sometimes life gives us experiences or we find ourselves in situations that leave us scratching our heads. It can sometimes be helpful to go to a card reader or psychic to gain further understanding about what is going on. Often psychics have a different framework and way of being in the world that includes energy patterns, past lives, karmic ties, soul contracts and other such ideas. Sometimes the insight you will receive will be something like “ah, yes, this was a past karma that was being released” or “You have certain things that need to be learned from this person before this relationship will end” and so on.

Reason 7: And last but not least, for fun! And curiosity.

Who has not wondered about their future? Or what might happen to them? Karma, destiny, are these things true? Readings can be done just to see what a reader might get for you. They can be done just to see what happens. Enjoy it. Ask about all the things you’ve ever wondered about. You might be surprised what comes up.

How do Psychics Tell the Future?

Have you ever wondered how it is possible for psychics to tell the future? Have you ever wondered how it works? How is it that a person can tell the future and it sometimes actually come true? What about all those people who claim to tell the future and it doesn’t come true?

When a client asks about the future in a reading this is what happens for me:

I feel all the various probabilities that are in existence for question. It’s very fast, and doesn’t take long because I only feel into the strongest possibilities. Those are the only ones that the client and I truly care about. It is the strongest possibility that I relate to the client. If there are several that are highly probable I tell the client all of them including with what will make each possibility happen.

Because the world we live in is energy, it is constantly shifting. The future is a finicky thing. If I knock over the salt today, maybe that’s changed everything and I simply am not aware of it.

Here’s a clip of Griffin from Men in Black 3, a character I love. He’s an awesome example of what it’s like to be a super strong conscious and aware psychic all the time. He’s always standing right on the edge of doing something because he can see all the probabilities but he doesn’t know how to act or what to do until the millisecond before the future comes true because its only then that he knows exactly which one is true.

Here’s a clip of him:

As Heraclitus infamously said: “Change is the only constant in life.”

I can only tell you possibilities, albeit the strongest possibilities.

Jumping to the Future!

Really, sometimes, I wish I could tell you what the future is. Other times I am really glad that I can’t because then there would be no amazing surprises or dastardly mistakes that make me laugh with joy. Those things can only happen when life is being spontaneously lived, and I never want to give them up.

Today’s blog post is actually about a thing I do that is really annoying (to me). It’s this thing where I try to see my whole future, and jump conclusions about how its going to feel and turn out. One of my friends calls it “jumping”. I think that’s a good name for this thought pattern that often stops me from doing what I desire.

What happens often when I jump is that I will get stuck on just one aspect of what I’m jumping about. The ability to see the bigger picture is not utilized and the decision I make is no longer objective because I’ve based it on what I’ve jumped to in my mind. Often, this has kept me paralyzed and I’ve not done what I want to do because of the made up consequences that were created in my mind. Most of the time those consequences did not actually happen, or life changed so much by that time that they didn’t matter anymore.

I have a most perfect example for you this week because my tendency to jump came up again in the one area of my life that I experience much turmoil. Though I’ve practiced relaxing in most areas of my life previous to the following conversation I was totally unaware that I was jumping…

I’ve gone back and forth for years on the education that I would like to pursue. I have an avoidance of University for a myriad of reasons that don’t need to be listed today, and so I’ve tried to think up and take “short-cuts”. As much as I dislike University I’ve resigned myself to attend in the coming year.

After much research and synchronicity I’ve decided I’d like to receive training as a counsellor.

Because when I grow up I want to be a Spiritual Counselor. YAY! Can’t wait for my first day!

Here is where I jump: from my research most jobs in this field require at minimum a Master’s degree. That translates into six years of school. I cannot STAND the thought of being tied down anywhere for six years. That just freaks me out. To me, it seems like an entire lifetime! My freedom will be compromised by my commitment of six years, and I will not be able to do anything that I want!

*dramatically dies*

My friend whom I told this too started laughing.

“What?” I asked, tears in my eyes.

“Why don’t you just think about it in smaller chunks? One semester at a time rather than six years. It’s a lot more manageable that way.”

I thought about it for a minute, and began thinking about one semester. My body instantly relaxed. Then I thought about six years, and hew boy, my body tensed up. Back to one semester.

“I can do that.”

I love this! In that moment I realized that breaking things down into manageable tasks is a much more efficient way of thinking about my life. It makes everything a lot more feasible and not as scary in the long run. Life always is changing, and for all I know I might only go for one semester because some amazing once in a lifetime opportunity comes up and I choose to take that instead of continuing my studies. Perhaps I move to Australia, and continue studying there. Who knows?

The thing is, that too, is jumping into the future. There are things that I’ve not done or procrastinated because of the “What if’s” and there are things that I have jumped into without much thought. It takes a lot of practice for me to get it in the middle of not thinking too much which usually leads me to jumping, and of thinking too little which usually means I take on way more than I can handle.

In one year so much can change. It is much more helpful for me to stay in the present moment with tentative plans then it is for me to jump six years into the future and think about all that I might miss out on. By staying in the present more it is easier for me to take advantage of the opportunities that do come my way, and to follow my intuition to take the opportunities that are right for me.

A few years ago when asked what I was going to do for the next couple of years. I would answer “Right now, I am doing this. In the next month I do this, and in the month after I will do this. After that, I have no idea.”

I liked that. It kept my life open. I didn’t have the weight of commitments holding me down past where I could handle, which at that time was three months. At the same time it wasn’t necessarily the most healthy thing. I didn’t want to give commitments that were longer than a three-month span because of what might happen.

This held me back from anything I wasn’t one hundred percent gung-ho. I didn’t think of things as a pros and cons list, but instead as a feeling. If it felt right I would take the opportunity and go for it. I fought hard to be able to have the choice of following my feelings. As much as I would like to take every opportunity, I have learned not every opportunity needs to be taken. I can choose the ones that will serve me best and teach me what I desire.

University does not feel all the way right. I have concerns about it however, careful thought and consideration conclude that it is wise to keep my options open and if lacking a degree is keeping me back it would be a good idea to do something to remedy the situation…

Let’s re-frame the following:

The thoughts “To me that seems like an entire lifetime! My freedom will be compromised by my commitment of six years, and I will not be able to do anything that I want!” are examples of thinking called “All or Nothing Thinking” and “Over-generalization” and “Jumping to Conclusions – Fortune Telling” in Cognitive Behavior Therapy according to the class I’m attending at Bridges for Women. This thinking is a distorted way of viewing the world, and in my example I do indeed have a view that does not serve me well.

Let us re-frame the thoughts: Six years is not an entire lifetime, in reality it will go quite fast (it’s already been five years since I graduated high school). I will be quite busy in University. Many students transfer schools, go away for trips, and have many more amazing experiences while they are in school. Students begin and leave, they begin and stay. Life changes, school changes, location changes. It all can happen. If I don’t like it or it feels wrong I can always leave; there are many options available for my education, even within the University system.

That sounds much better.
