How to Balance Your Chakras

chakrasMany people are curious about the best ways to balance their chakra system. It’s a good idea to balance your chakras because when they are operating properly and in balance your life is in alignment with the Universal Flow and everything seems a lot more graceful.

There are a lot of factors that go into whether a chakra is open and functioning properly. It can be blocked from operating in a balanced way due to traumas, or a build up of negative thought forms. It can be over active from too much focus there, or its swung from being too under functioning to being overly functioning.

To guarantee that your chakras are in balance it would be recommended that you do one of the following exercises everyday. For some people this works and they love it. Other people like to change it up a bit (like me!).

Personally, I tend to focus on filling my life with various exercises based on the chakras that I want to work on or the quality that I desire to have in my life. For instance, I do a lot of yoga that focuses on the solar plexus and the heart. My meditation practices tend to be based on the sacral and third eye chakras right now. But it shifts depending what I’m working on.

The Crystal Method

The crystal method is a really simple laying on of stones healing practice that most people find hugely effective. First you gather seven minerals together. You can usually find chakra sets for sale for around $25 including taxes at your local metaphysical stores, or even online maybe. You can also pick out your own stones for your chakra set, which is my preferred method.

Typical choices might include for each chakra the following. You only need one mineral per chakra!

Root Chakra: Black tourmaline, hematite, obsidian, smokey quartz, tiger’s eyes, jasper, garnet and ruby.

Sacral Chakra: Bloodstone, carnelian, red garnet, red jasper, ruby, orange calcite, fire opal.

Solar Plexus Chakra: Aragonite, citrine, golden calcite, malachite, rhodochrosite, ritulated quartz, pyrite, tiger’s eye, unakite, imperial topaz.

kit-chakra-balancing-300Heart Chakra: Aventurine, emerald, green calcite, green tourmaline, lepidolite, malachite, pink calcite, thodocrosite, Rhodonite, rose quartz, malachite, kunzite.

Throat Chakra: Angelite, aqua aura, blue lace agate, blue topaz, celestite, chrysocolia, larimar, turquoise, sodalite, aquamarine.

Third Eye Chakra: Amethyst, azurite, charolite, hawk’s eye, kyanite, lapiz lazuli, sodalite, moss agate, sugilite, sapphire.

Crown Chakra: Clear calcite, clear quartz, danburite, herkimer diamond, selenite, amethyst, diamond.

Once you have your minerals and have charged them by either keeping them in a bag with citrine (my favorite solar plexus mineral when doing a chakra balance) or running them under cool running water find a comfortable spot to lie down.

Place the applicable minerals on the chakra and visualize a gold/white light from Source entering the crown chakra, and going through the mineral on the crown chakra. See the gold/white light flowing through the third eye and its mineral and so on, until you get to the root chakra. When you are at the root chakra visualize the energy flowing down your legs through your feet connecting to the Earth. The energy goes deep, deep down into the ground, connecting you firmly.

Then see the Earth’s energy rise up, following the flow of energy all the way back into your body, up through the chakras, connecting through the crown chakra to Source.

You’ve now created a powerful flow of energy that is circulating Source Energy with Earth Energy, providing sustenance from the two most important energy sources we have as humans on the planet. We are feeding both our soul and our human body with this flow of energy.

Allow yourself to relax, focusing on your breath and the feeling of the minerals if you feel anything. Allow the minerals to guide your consciousness. In about twenty minutes you will have more balanced chakras than before you began!

In my experience it takes several sessions to have fully balanced chakras. Also the sessions may last longer than twenty minutes, however, the minerals will tell you when your session is done. You will know – sometimes it feels like you’ve been dropped back into your body, or you are suddenly wide awake, etc.

The Meditation Method

This is the method I use on myself more frequently than with the minerals. I just find this method to be faster for me, and it typically is faster for people who are doing this meditation as upkeep to already fairly in balance chakras. I tend to use this method in combination with specific exercises for chakras I have challenges in.

This method is really good at developing your clairvoyance (ability of clear sight) and clairsentience (clear feeling) too!

Find a comfortable place to sit or lie down. Take a few deep breaths, and then systematically go through your body using your breath to relax tensed muscles as best you can. Start at either your toes or the crown of your head working your way up or down your body respectively.

When you are complete, take a moment to visualize your chakras as best you can. Now see white/gold energy coming through your crown chakra, balancing and clearing it as it travels to down to the third eye. At the third eye, wash that chakra with this white/gold light before continuing down to the next chakra and continue the process all the way down to the root chakra.

At the root chakra see the energy move down into the Earth, deep down, connecting and grounding you to the Earth. Once you feel firm in the Earth see energy move up from the planet, washing and clearing each chakra all the way back up out of the crown chakra connecting to Source.

Do this a few times. You may notice that you feel the energy not moving as much in certain spots, or that you see a black spot. Those are blockages/traumas/imbalances. During the meditation you can ask about them to find out more information. You can also focus a lot of energy on them which sometimes will clear it away. Other times you will need to do outside work to dissolve the blockage or rectify the imbalance.

This meditation will take only about ten to fifteen minutes at most. I maybe spend five minutes a day on it however, I’ve done this meditation for over five years. Feel free to adapt it and change it to what suits your mind and method of intuition. 🙂

How To Check Chakra’s With a Pendulum

quartzpendulumThis was one of the first things I learned on my path as a healer. I use other methods now, having developed my skills as a healer and intuitive for years. I still find this to be one of the best tools to gift new healers with because it helps you to learn what the frequency is of each chakra and how to tune into it. It teaches you what it feels/looks like when a chakra is in balance or not, while also teaching you pendulum work.

That’s a lot of pluses!

You will need a pendulum for today’s posts. I learned this technique by using a washer that was tied to a string around 30 cm, or a foot long. I now use a quartz pendulum. I’ve also used in the past wood tied to string, headphones, and necklaces.

Pendulums work by accessing the information inside your Auric field. They respond to what your energy is promoting in your field. When you ask a question your energy responds and the pendulum is giving you a visual sign of what that answer is.

That’s why most things can be used for this work. I’ve only had problems with dowsing using a pendulum when I ask questions I’m biased about. If you are not biased either way about a question then your answer will have a high chance of accuracy.

Some people will find it’s easier to use certain materials over others, and that’s fine. Experiment and find out what works for you.

Here’s what I do when I check someones chakras with a pendulum.

First I verify what qualifies as a yes or no with the pendulum.

This picture shows how the string runs, and that the pendulum is hanging from the thumb and index finger. Tilt your hand, knuckles facing the sky parallel to the ground.

This picture shows how the string runs, and that the pendulum is hanging from the thumb and index finger. Tilt your hand, knuckles facing the sky parallel to the ground.

The extent of my dowsing skills is yes or no questions and numbers so I stick with this method when I use a pendulum. I place the end of the string that doesn’t have the pendulum on it at the edge of my hand that will be holding it up. I run the string along my palm, closing my fingers over it, pinching the string between the tips of my thumb and index fingers from which the pendulum will hang.

This is the most potent way that you can hold a pendulum giving it the best access to your heart’s answers to the questions you ask. There is a heart chakra in the palm of each hand.

I hold the pendulum about three inches above the face-up palm of my other hand.

“Show me yes.” I ask. I wait until it swings either left to right or back to front. Sometimes it will circle.

“Show me no.” I ask next and wait for that answer. The answers get stronger with practice and allowance.

Then I ask two or three test questions like “Is my name this? Am I wearing this?” to test the validity of the first two questions. When I secure with what represents yes and no I begin the process on the chakras.

The person whose chakras I’m checking will be lying down on their back, relaxing or meditating. They don’t have to do anything except lie still.

I will usually begin with the root chakra and work my way up. I place the pendulum a few inches above each chakra asking the following questions in succession:

“Is this chakra in balance?” If yes, I move to the next chakra. If no, I continue questioning:

“Is this chakra over functioning?” or “Is this chakra under functioning?”. The answer to these questions give me a really good idea as to what the person lying down is experiencing in their life based on the chakra system. A great reference book for this is Wheels of Life: A User’s Guide to the Chakra System by Anodea Judith.

I’ve also asked further questions about chakras such as: Will this healing method bring this chakra into balance? Is this chakra open? Is this chakra blocked (by ______)?

To check your chakras you use the same method but don’t place the pendulum over your body.

You can simply continue to hold the pendulum in the same way as you check the yes and no. You will ask the same questions with a slight difference:

“Is my root chakra in balance?” If yes, move to the next chakra. If no, ask if the root chakra is over functioning or under functioning.

This is a super easy method of checking your chakras or another persons. It can provide invaluable information, especially if you ask the right questions. It will also develop and hone your intuition.

Good luck! Happy dowsing!

A fun test that I sometimes do online to check my chakras is here.

Boundaries and the Solar Plexus

I was looking for fences, and I found this stone fence sticking out from between two wood fences. When I took the picture I discovered the face... and contemplate more...

This is something that I have personally have a lot of trouble with, though I am far better now than I ever have been. It has taken a long time for

me to understand exactly what a boundary is, what it feels like (which is can be a necessity to me in understanding things fully) and how I encounter them.

When I left Winnipeg I recall Grams telling me that I have no boundaries. At the time I was slightly miffed to hear that, insulted even. Of course I had boundaries! Everyone has boundaries! That statement brought into my awareness boundaries and boundary setting and began my attempts of understanding what she was talking back.

Now I look back and I can see that I really didn’t have boundaries. I barely have boundaries today – though they are formulating and shaping themselves as I become more aware of what I want, like and need.

Not working the last few months I’ve floated along with life as everyone else – aka people who I love and are very close to me – deals with their busy schedules and lives. I’ve gotten bored, unmotivated, tired of working, and also found it very easy to schedule my activities around their lives.

So I’ve been around and very available.

My close friends have gotten used to me being available, and I love interacting with them. Lately, I’ve been highly motivated to finish up the projects that I’m working on by the end of March at the latest. This creates a crossroads for me – set my boundary and restrict my time with these people, or “float”.

Now they are the perfect people to practice setting boundaries with! Sometimes I fail, and sometimes I succeed, but my successes are becoming greater than the fails. Here are some things that I noticed about boundaries as I contemplated them this past week.

I fear creating and setting boundaries. Deep down inside I am scared that if I set one the other person will never want to speak to me again. It’s unrealistic and not true. I counter this fear with the belief that people like people who have boundaries – it makes you less passive and people feel comfortable because decisions are made mutually by taking into account both people’s needs, wants and likes.

Boundaries require awareness of who I am in the physical. A lot of the cues that I get that a boundary is being violated by me or another person is given in my physical body. There’s an intuitive thought or “alarm” followed by dissociating from my body. As I practice staying in my body, it’s becoming more obvious to me when I’ve disassociated. At those times I need to reach back into my body and focus on my breath.

Energetically, boundaries have a lot to do with taking back my power and controlling my life. This stems from an imbalance in the Solar Plexus chakra or energy center (you can read a post on here on MommyMystics website about what the chakras are), and most likely accounts for the pains and shifts that occur in my digestive/solar plexus area.

This is also coincides with the guidance I’ve been feeling and receiving messages of: Its time to take the power back in my life, to stand up for what

Stepping up into my power.

my needs and wants are. By setting boundaries I take control of my life and what happens instead of passively letting the river take me wherever it wants to go. Now I see this and understand it.

When my boundaries are set and stay in place I feel centered and grounded. Overall generally more at ease with life and what is going on with me. I feel like myself, and in my body. My stress level remains low because I feel that I am accomplishing everything that I need and want to do, plus experiencing what I want out of life.

I’ve learned that when I have set healthy boundaries on an energetic level the world around me does not drive me half as crazy. By shielding (imagining I am in a bubble of sorts), sometimes in multiple layers and colors, I am able to enter a Future Shop without getting a headache within ten minutes, or go to Walmart without becoming overwhelmed by the sheer volume of energy.

With healthy boundaries I am able to speak with people inside and outside of sessions without taking on their energy, emotions or feelings. I can feel my little bubble reflecting off the little bullets of emotions and thoughts. This makes me feel good about myself, which in turn increases my self-esteem. Aha, I think I’m getting it now how self-esteem works and is created… A to-do list doesn’t cut it for me.

Now that I have identified what it feels like to have boundaries and what I feel like when I don’t, reflection brings forth the next question: How am I going to better implement healthy boundaries in my life, and step further into my power?

My answer at this point: Improve communication skills. Awareness. Practice. Your suggestions are welcome.
